Happy New Year, reader! I hope the holidays were the needed respite for you that they’ve managed to be for me. Yuletide is my favorite time of year, not for all the festivities and gift-giving, but for the opportunity to accept the present darkness while anticipating the coming light. Now that Yuletide is over, it’s time to greet a new day and get excited for new pursuits!

Here’s what’s coming…
- The Monthly Review – Will this have a name one day? Sure, probably. I like sharing my long-form takes on movies, but the amount of work that currently goes into that format means you’ll be seeing it about once a month. Lucky you!! That’s 12 big reviews per year! I’ll try to be timely with my monthly choices, I’ll try to keep it topical. Does that mean you expect some Nosferatu content in January? Probably, baby!! I have thoughts – and not all of them are good!!
- The Weekend Wrap-Up – I am averaging around 2-4 horror movies per week, depending on my schedule, and a far higher rate at times like these when I’m home during my usual work hours. Did you know that every time I watch, I update The Watch List? It’s true! Even when I’m not posting, I make sure that list and my Letterboxd are up-to-date and accurate. I’m planning to put out one post each Friday with that week’s watches and some brief thoughts. Fridays will also be my call-to-action for another new series I’m starting for 2025 called…
- Scratch-Off Sunday – this is a little nod to my dear friend Professor Scrye, an amusement attraction industry veteran with whom I work and play at a local haunted house. When Scrye heard I was devouring my way through horror movies he gifted me a set of scratch-off “100 Random Horror Movie” posters to further fuel the furious fanaticism. We love an enabling friend! And you know, I was thinking… why not exploit his kindhearted gift for free content? Every Friday, I’ll scratch off a window and announce the resulting film. Every Sunday, I’ll post the briefest of reviews: no thoughtful analyzing, no waxing philosophical, just my gut reactions and ratings.
- …and everything else! – While movies will always be my main focus, there is so much horror content to go around! I may announce a limited live blog series for horror-adjacent shows like Dragula, which I wanted to do for the previous season despite starting the blog with only a few episodes to go. I may also do some live show and horror attraction reviews or other ooky-spooky updates from my life. Who knows?
My biggest thanks to everyone who has clicked, read, or subscribed. Trying to a new project off the ground and learning how to connect with the people I’m trying to reach has proven to be disheartening at times, but I’m pushing onward because I know one day this will find the people it was meant for. Future readers, I’m so glad you made it. For now, the horrors may persist, but so will I. ❤
Check back in Friday for the Weekend Wrap-Up!!
